care; through innovative intellectual inputs. Our objectives symbolize our

the Global Economy. To fulfill this aspiration, we conceived the idea of ABES to
achieve our goal.
Facts About ABES
ABES provides an education that is intended to enable our students to
fulfill
their potential - be it social, intellectual, academic, sports or
cultural. We do so because these potentials, fully developed, are useful,
and or aesthetically rewarding.
The
extensive
range of activities offered in the College enable our students to find
a platform they can excel at. In this way they come to an appreciation of
their
worth as individuals and gain self-esteem and self-confidence, which
we aspire as the hallmark of our graduates.
We recognise
that, in a rapidly changing world, few of our students will follow a single
career for the whole of their adult lives. To cope with these career changes
they will need
flexibility of mind and the
intellectual curiosity
to continue learning well into adulthood.
We espouse
a
variety of teaching models in order to produce students who can think
critically, synthesise and transform, experiment and create technological studies. In short, we aim to
equip our students for the 21st Century. Our teaching methods are thus far
removed from the didactic approaches, that are traditional in many countries.
ABES is
much
more than an orderly environment. Our disciplinary systems, from the day
the students enters the College, aim to make them realise that we must all take
responsibility for our own actions. This realisation is fundamental to bring
our students to a preference for
self-discipline over imposed discipline.
In an
increasingly dysfunctional world, we regard values such as
responsibility,
honesty, courage, loyalty, tolerance and mutual respect as the building
blocks of a stable society. We do not seek to teach these values, but to
organise the College and so conduct ourselves that our children will set the
example we are giving and gain, bit by bit, to prize and apply these values
for themselves.
While ABES draws
much of its inspiration from
international models, it also embraces the
Indian
perspective. We try to give our students not only an understanding of their
own, or host country, but also a valuing of its peoples and its cultural
diversity and a willingness to do something for it. We also seek to encourage
amongst our students an appreciation of
India's immense richness and variety
of natural resources, as well as a commitment to their protection and
preservation for future generations.
Expeditions to more remote areas
and our community service programmes are intended to break down the isolation
created by privilege, exposing our students to a reality outside their own
experience so that they may learn to cope with unexpected hindrances and
mature in the process.
Respect for the
environment grows out of respect for one's own person. A comprehensive programme
of
talks and seminars on personal hygiene, sexuality, drugs, human values, social values
and family relationships is held each year at regular interval.

Community
The academic community at ABES Engineering College.
A good educational experience includes a variety
of opportunities for informal contact among students and faculty members around
common interests. As in any College, a sense of community is important and
ongoing, long-term relationships among faculty members, between faculty members
and students, and between faculty members and other members of ABES are very important to us. To
help build this sense of community, ABES Engineering College provides a range of
online community-building tools and activities.
Communication and connection among College members
ABES Engineering College provides several ways
that students and faculty can communicate with one another.
College-wide threaded discussions
A general discussion forum, open to all students and faculty, provides an
opportunity to exchange ideas and suggestions about the College experience.
Alumni Section
Communication among members of the College
supported by access to the College directory. Every member of the College,
both students and faculty, has the opportunity to fill out a personal profile,
and to select the information which will be published in the College directory.
This directory allows all members of College easily to connect with one another.
Special Interest Groups and Clubs
A number of affinity groups and 'clubs' are planned as ABES Engineering College
continues to grow. A link to information about clubs and how to form them will
be provided on the student and faculty portals.
Faculty Communities of Practice
The College's online communication infrastructure
(e.g., bulletin boards, threaded discussions and news sources organized around
specific topics of interest) provide faculty members with opportunities for both
professional and social interaction. Through the community of practice, faculty
members can establish and build relationships, communicate based on common
personal and professional interests, collaborate on academic and other
professional endeavors, share teaching experiences and lessons learned, and meet
challenges and resolve issues that they encounter in the course of their work.
