All the efforts and the activities of the department are directed towards the stated mission objectives. The gist of ongoing activities is as follows:

Virtual Lab Nodal Centre of IIT Delhi

Under the initiative of MHRD for national Mission on Education through ICT, ECE Department of ABES Engineering College has been designated as Virtual labs Nodal centre of IIT Delhi since Sept 2010. Under this programme the students have access to a number of virtual labs of IIT Delhi in the subjects of Digital Electronics, Signal & Systems, Microwave electromagnetic theory etc.

To enhance the V-Lab initiate of MHRD, ECE department has setup its own Virtual lab entitled “Docircuits” which is customized as per university syllabus of Electronics Engineering Labs EC-301 P & EC-401 P.

AICTE Support

On account of level of activities in the department for academics, research & development, the up gradation of labs have been supported by the AICTE under MODROB program. The department also gets support from AICTE to conductor national conference/seminar over the years. The optical Fiber/Microwave lab have been modernized and equipped with latest instruments with the AICTE support.

Collaboration with Cadence Design Systems Noida

ABES Engineering College, Ghaziabad is one of the institutes in NCR selected for Industry Academic partnership program initiated by NASSCOM. Under this initiative Cadence Design System, Noida is the industry partner of ABES EC since August, 2010. One of the key activities under this programme facilitates students of ECE department undertaking live projects under direct guidance from experts from Cadence Noida. Since 2010, 122 students have successful completed 15 live projects. The activity continue, to be in full swing in the session 2013-14 also.

Membership of Technical Societies-IEEE, ICEIT, IETE & ACM

In order to keep themselves abreast of technological developments in the area of Electronics & Communication, ECE Department has student chapters of IEEE-MTTS since 2009. A number of faculty members and the students are IEEE MTTS members. The ABES-EC in the founder member of Institution of Communication Engineers & Information Technologists (ICEIT). Under the aegis of IEEE & ICEIT, the department conducts National Conference & Faculty Development program, students technical paper presentation competitions; a project competitions etc. Some faculty are also members of Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) & Institute of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineers (IETE).

AICTE’S EETP initiative

ABES is one of the colleges short listed by the AICTE under MHRD initiative of Employability Enhancement Training Program (EETP). Under this program, 20 students ECE department shall undergo training in telecommunication technologies with hands on practice on the equipments being used by the telecom operators in their mobile and data networks in the country. The training will be imparted at BSNL’S Advanced Level Telecom Training started in July, 2013. On successful competition of the modules the students are awarded certification by the BSNL. The training of first batch has been completed in the period of July 2013-November, 2013.

Association with IUCEE, USA

ECE department regularly organize webinar & mini courses regularly in association with Indo US collaboration for Engineering Education (IUCEE) USA for Faculty Development & for the students on the subjects of latest trends in electronics, communication & computers. Some of the prominent courses organized are Low Power VLSI design & Verification Data & Networks Security, Data Mining.

Implementation of AICTE/MHRD T10K Project

AICTE-MHRD under its National mission of education using ICT has launched an initiative entitled T10K project to train 10K teachers at a time. The AICTE identified five areas in the mission. In order to be part of the programme, the ECE department has identified following 5 activities.

    • Spoken Tutorials
    • Virtual Labs
    • E-Yantra

Faculty of ECE department is actively engaged is implementation of above activities in the curriculum for up gradation of knowledge & skills
