Resource Person: Ms. Guneet Sethi (National award winner 2012 under the category of Empowerment of persons with disabilities as ‘Role Model’)
Ms. Guneet Sethi is 100% visually impaired. She started losing her vision at the young age of 25 which transformed her life completely. But her optimistic attitude and perseverance to overcome challenges never let her disability affect her abilities. The Playhouse Pre-Nursery was her first entrepreneurial venture which she founded at the dusk of her life when she began losing her sight which she believed would lead to a new dawn some years later. As she patiently trod on her path to success, she made it a point to motivate others towards believing that disability is not the end of the world. Ms. Guneet is a popular proponent of the rights of people with disability – disseminating crucial information to people with visual impairment and also sensitizing the mainstream society towards the abilities of persons with visual disabilities.
Recognizing her efforts and achievements, she was honored with a National Award instituted by the Ministry of Social Justice as “Role Model” for the year 2012, presented by the Hon. President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee. For her steadfast performance in life, she also received the ‘NIVH Excellence Award 2013’, instituted by the National Institute for the Visually Handicapped, Dehradun. Ms. Guneet Sethi believes in the saying Never Say Die.
