EN Department || Solar Energy in India – 10 Year Challenge, The Journey So Far – The Way Ahead

Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EN) at ABES Engineering College organized an expert lecture on “Solar Energy in India – 10 Year Challenge, The Journey So Far – The Way Ahead” for the students of B.Tech 3rd year in Conference hall, Aryabhatta Block on 8th November 2019. The speaker for the lecture was Mr Subrahmanyam Pulipaka, Chief Executive Officer, National Solar Energy Federation of India.

Mr Subrahmanyam Pulipaka is the youngest Chief Executive Officer of National Solar Energy Federation of India, which is India’s umbrella organization for solar energy stakeholders in India. He is also one of the youngest winners of BRICS young scientist award in 2018. Well known Speaker at various Solar and RE events in India, Mr Pulipaka represented India in various scientific and technology platforms worldwide, including the United States, China, Russia and Rwanda. With a research background in the reliability of solar PV modules, he has published around 15 research articles in internationally acclaimed journals. He is also the founding Chairman of India Africa Youth Energy Forum, a platform dedicated to nurturing future energy leaders in the Indian subcontinent and African continent.

In the first part of his lecture, Mr Subrahmanyam Pulipaka discussed the scenario of solar energy produced worldwide and in India too. He discussed the limitations and obstructions in the development of the solar energy plant in India. He explained how the development of solar energy cells in India can make the whole solar plant cost-effective. He enlightened the students about the benefits and limitations on the electric vehicles based on solar energy and the scope of development of the charging stations in the coming future. He also emphasized the goal of the current Government policies for the production of solar energy in the coming future.

In the end, He answered all the queries of the students and faculties and motivated all the students to further work on the design and engineering of solar cells and electric vehicles.
