SWAYAM”, an initiative of AICTE is finding its relevance and usefulness in present-day teaching and learning, therefore an expert lecture on “Swayam” has been organized by Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and arranged by BITS on January 11, 2019.
The talk was delivered by Dr. Manpreet Singh Manna, Former Director, SWAYAM (AICTE). The talk was graced by honorable dignitaries of the college including Shri Raghunandan Kansal (Advisor), Shri Sachin Goel (Vice – President), Dr. Vijay Anant Athavale (Director) and Dr. Gajendra Singh (Dean Academics), Dr. Sanjay Kr. Singh (Dean Student Welfare & HOD- ECE) and Mr. Ajay Singh (COO – BITS).
HODs of various departments and large number of faculty members actively participated in the expert talk which highlighted the need and techniques for improving the quality of teaching and learning in Higher Education Institutions.
Dr. Manpreet Singh Manna explained the active role being played by SWAYAM in promoting Outcome Based Education, Open Education Resources, Blended Learning and Flip Learning. The speaker highlighted the importance of content delivery, innovative learning and teaching methods. The speaker explained that India has largest human resource but the contribution in the field of research is not proportionate. To improve this situation extensive use of technology is imminent. It was emphasized that technology is for the help of the teachers and can never be a replaced by classroom teaching. The audience came to know that courses under SWAYAM provide flexibility to students to learn different topics as per their convenience and without barriers like Language and Social Background.
Dr. Gajendra Singh (Dean Academics) shared that SWAYAM is a platform which promotes quality education amongst students and faculty members alike. SWAYAM has broken barriers and removed discrimination and promoted equality in Education. He suggested that more expert talks promoting active learning should be organized for the overall development of faculty members and students.
